Milliguard® UVX UV absorbers protect polyurethane (PU) from yellowing and degradation caused by exposure to UV light.

Supplied in liquid form for easy handling and metering for PU producers and converters to deliver fresh, long-lasting PU products with lower volatile organic compound (VOC) and outgassing condensation (FOG) emissions.

These absorbers are reactive in nature and eliminate bloom with competing materials. Milliguard® UVX is widely used to protect PU foams for automotive, textile, and other specialty foam applications.

Benefits:

  1. Homogeneous liquid formulation for easy handling and metering

  2. Reduction in volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions

  3. Reactivity that avoids bloom from competing materials

  4. Thermal stability

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. What are UV stabilizers, and how do they work?

UV Stabilizers are additives that protect materials from UV degradation caused by exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light. They work by absorbing or reflecting UV rays, preventing the breakdown of polymers and maintaining the material's integrity and appearance.

  2. How does Milliguard UVX provide UV protection?

Milliguard UVX is a specialized UV absorber that offers advanced UV protection by absorbing harmful UV radiation before it can cause damage. This reduces the effects of UV degradation, such as fading and material weakening, extending the lifespan of products.

  3. Can Milliguard UVX be used with other light stabilizers?

Yes, Milliguard UVX can be combined with other light stabilizers, including hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS), to provide enhanced UV protection. This combination offers a synergistic effect, offering greater resistance to UV light and prolonging the life of materials.

  4. What types of materials benefit from using UV stabilizers like Milliguard UVX?

Materials commonly benefiting from UV stabilizers include plastics, coatings, textiles, and automotive components. Using UV stabilizers helps protect these materials from UV radiation, reducing the risk of fading, cracking, and overall deterioration caused by prolonged exposure to UV rays.

  5. How does UV degradation affect materials?

UV degradation occurs when ultraviolet (UV) light breaks down the molecular structure of materials, leading to issues like discoloration, loss of strength, and surface deterioration. Using UV absorbers and stabilizers can mitigate these effects and maintain the quality and appearance of materials.

  6. Are there any specific applications where Milliguard UVX is especially effective?

Milliguard UVX is particularly effective in applications where materials are exposed to high levels of UV radiation, such as outdoor products, automotive interiors, and exterior coatings. Its advanced UV absorber technology provides reliable UV protection, reducing the effects of UV degradation.
