Renewable Energy Expansion

Renewable energy is a necessary part of the climate solution

Our world's electricity generation network needs to decarbonize in order to reduce our long-term climate impacts. Increasing the demand for renewable energy is essential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to accelerate the innovation of carbonless electricity. We will continue to expand our renewable energy program to increase our consumption of renewable power. In 2020, we achieved 50% of our 100,000MWh/year renewable goal by increasing renewables from 10,000 MWh/year to 50,000 MWh/year (primarily from wind and hydro), while also reducing GHG by 3.9%. In 2021, we continued to grow our renewable program by increasing our renewable consumption to 92,000 MWh/year, reaching 97% of our 2025 Planet Goal to increase renewable energy use to 100,000 MWh. We continue to grow our renewable energy commitment and monitor the latest advancements in renewable technology and policy.
