Keeping Each Other Safe
Keeping Each Other Safe
At Milliken, the health and safety of our people are of utmost importance. Our goal is to provide an injury-free workplace and we do that by creating a culture in which our teams know that their safety and well-being are our first priority every day. We strive to build the kind of teams in which our people look out for each other and keep one another safe. Daniel Crocker, Engineering Services, Dewey Plant, Chemical says, "I came from the military and find the same camaraderie at Milliken. We keep each other safe."
Zero lost time is our goal. We’re committed to progress and yet realize that our progress will not always be linear. 2021 brought new challenges. In 2022, we are focusing even more on new hire training, faster integrations of acquisitions into our safety-first culture, and proactively reducing risks on our top three lost-time incident categories.
While compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and recordkeeping requirements is mandatory, our company seeks to surpass the legally required minimums. Our partnership with OSHA through the Voluntary Protection Program demonstrates our intent to continuously improve our processes and not settle for compliance alone. In 2021, four Milliken plants, our Allen, Hatch, Golden Valley and Alma sites, received re-approval for the rigorous safety standards outlined in the OSHA VPP Star Certification.
In 2021, our Hatch and Golden Valley Plants were the first of our sites in the North Carolina Safety Program. These sites completed NCDOL Carolina Star recertification and are now the longest-tenured plants in the program.
