How Huhtamaki created mono-material tubes with better shelf life and enhanced sustainability.

Today about 75% of tube laminates worldwide are using non-recyclable multilayer structures with aluminum foil.

Recyclable mono structures do not provide identical barrier properties and/or are more costly. To help achieve a circular economy, Huhtamaki is applying Milliken’s additives to improve the barrier performance of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) to create mono-material tubes with better shelf life and enhanced recyclability.
